Nephew of Ferndale Mayor Busted

From the office of the Humboldt County Drug Task Force comes news that Jason and Sara Farley of Ferndale were busted on suspicion of illegal marijuana cultivation yesterday. Jason Farley is the nephew of Ferndale Mayor Jeff Farley.

On 10-01-2009 at 1310 hours the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office assisted by the Humboldt County Drug Task Force served two search warrants at the same time in the Ferndale area. The first search warrant was served on a 158-acre parcel of land located off Crosby Road. Officers seized 44 growing outdoor marijuana plants on the property that were approximately 4 foot to 6 foot in height each. The weight of these 44 marijuana plants was 660 pounds. Officers seized 34 pounds of marijuana shake and an additional 22 pounds of drying marijuana from the property.

The second search warrant was served at a residence located on the 500 block of Shaw Avenue. At the residence, officers arrested Sara Diane Farley age 30 for cultivation and possession of marijuana for sales. Sara Farley and her husband, Jason Oscar Farley age 34 are the owners of the property that was searched on Crosby Road. Inside of Farley's residence, officers located $7,200 in cash that was seized for asset forfeiture. Officers seized 3 handguns and two rifles from the residence. Sara Farley was transported and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility and her bail was set at $ 50,000 dollars.

An arrest warrant will be requested through the Humboldt County District Attorney's Office for Jason Oscar Farley's for cultivation and possession for sales of marijuana. Jason Farley was not located when the search warrants were served at the two separate locations.
