Co-op Employees to Picket Board Meeting

The clash between North Coast Co-op management and unionized employees continues. Here's a press release from the union:

United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 5 will hold a rally and picket at the North Coast Co-operatives Board of Directors meeting on Thursday November 14th. The rally will highlight the Co-op’s use of union busting law firm Jackson-Lewis and their proposal to freeze wages, extend wage scales, eliminate Sunday and night crew premiums, and to shift the cost of healthcare onto the employees at a time when they are more profitable and efficient than ever before.

Workers, families, and community leaders will come together as one to tell the Board of Directors: No Cuts at the Co-op. They will be presenting the Board with 1400 pledges of support from the community to the Co-op workers.

WHO: Workers, labor and community leaders of Humboldt and Del Norte Counties including: Eureka Teachers Association, California Faculty Assoc., California United Homecare Workers, Carpenters 751, UAW 2350, United Food and Commercial Workers Local 5, AFSCME 1640, elected officials and more.

WHAT: Rally and Picket to end the Co-op’s race to the bottom!

WHEN: November 14, 2013, 5:30 to 6:30pm

WHERE: The Arcata Community Kitchen on 8th Street between I and J St.
