Heads up, Humboldt:
While the county's masking mandate has been lifted, Public Health is still strongly recommending masking indoors in public, social distancing and "avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces." COVID-19 is still with us, so be sure to check the protocols at event venues.

Frankenweenie

When: Sun., Oct. 6, 6 p.m. 2013

A stop-motion animated comedy-horror family film directed by Tim Burton. It is a remake of Burton’s 1984 short film of the same name and is a parody of and an homage to the 1931 film Frankenstein based on Mary Shelley’s book of the same name.

After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life, with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous.

The voice cast includes Winona Ryder (Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands), Catherine O’Hara (Beetlejuice and The Nightmare Before Christmas), Martin Short (Mars Attacks!) and Martin Landau (Ed Wood and Sleepy Hollow). The film won the Saturn Award for Best Animated Film and was nominated for an Academy Award; a Golden Globe; a BAFTA; and an Annie Award for Best Film in each respective animated category.
