I finally get to write a poem to Geri

All the houses you've lived in

on all those streets

The husbands and daughters

Tough girls in high school

with razor sharp bones

Boyfriends and dancing cheek to cheek

in lonely cars on starry nights

Front porches cement steps aluminum awnings

Fly paper fluorescent light

Fluorescent white lips

Marilyn Monroe

small-waisted dresses

High balls high heels

ice clinking

True love

humid American nights

I want to be young with you

watch in the bathroom mirror as you put on eyeliner

before a big date
