You know the expression: Lie down with dogs, wake up happy. Every dog lover knows this is true (even if it's not really the expression). If you're the breed of human who agrees, trot on out to Redwood Acres Fairgrounds this Sunday, March 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the HumDOG Dog Expo (free). With exhibits, booths and enough swag to fill a doggy bag or two, this family-friendly event enters its 28th year with more canine action than you can shake a stick at.

Nonprofit HumDOG puts on the event to promote responsible dog ownership. This includes understanding breeds and personality traits, breed health issues and what type of dog is the best fit for your family. In addition to education, the expo features 40 dog breeds and a full day of tail-wagging times. There's Dancing with Dogs (hello, ABC), a parade of breeds, sled dog performances and a raffle benefiting the Terri Lockett Memorial Spay and Neuter Fund. You can spend your Sunday LOL-ing at that cute dog video your friend posted or come out and experience the furry fun in person. You might go home covered with a little hair of the dog, but you'll be happier for it. No bones about it.
