Some Home Cookin' is on the menu tonight up at the Mad River Brewery Tap Room at 6 p.m. Joyce, Fred, Tim and Gary will get you moving while you dance the evening away in the waning Blue Lake sunshine (weather permitting). It's a free show, so have a blast. The Eureka Brass Band closes up the Fortuna Concert Series tonight at the Fortuna Monday Club at 7:30 p.m. Catch some Latin jazz, swing jazz and some more modern tunes as well tonight for only $10. Supremely talented local band Scuber Mountain is celebrating the release of their second album, Finally, A Band You Can Trust! at the Arcata Playhouse tonight at 8 p.m. With origins in Lawrence, Kansas, circa 2003, piano-pop Scuber made its way out to Humboldt via Aber Miller (keys) and eventually Kym Scafe (vocals) arrived in Humboldt to form the core of the band with Humboldtians Drew Mohr (bass) and John Daren Thomas (drums). Drew and John would at some point flee Humboldt (damn you, Seattle and damn you, Los Angeles), but have been tempted back up tonight to join original Kansas Scuber Braden Young (guitar) for tonight's release. While out on the road recently hawking their wares, Scuber shared a stage with Montana's Pale People and hit it off with these fellow satirical poppers. Lo and behold, these people from Montana are coming all the way out to open up this album release show! So with that bit of history behind us, go support what could be the last local show from Scuber Mountain. Just $15 will get you in the door and will get you a copy of their latest release. Missed The Beer Scouts the past two nights? They're on at another brewery tonight, this time at Redwood Curtain Brewery in Arcata at 8:30 p.m. and for free.
