The city of Eureka is rolling out the red carpet for the premiere of The Craftsman, the new Magnolia Network and Discovery+ television series that features local woodworker, writer and veteran Eric Hollenbeck and his Blue Ox Millworks.

The first two episodes of the show will be shown back-to-back at the event, held March 18 at the historic Eureka Theater, followed by an on-stage Q&A interview with Hollenbeck, a master woodworker and the owner/operator of the Blue Ox Historic Village.  That evening, there will also be an event for families at Eureka’s Redwood Discovery Museum, which is hosting a simultaneous Kid’s Night at the Museum. For $25 per child, parents with young children can drop their 3.5 to 12-year-olds off at 5:30 p.m. through 8 p.m. to enjoy crafts and science experiments while parents head over to The Craftsman Community Premiere.

"This event is a great opportunity to dress up with friends, visit the fabulous, historic Eureka Theater and celebrate our own Eric Hollenbeck, a great representative of Eureka,” Mayor Susan Seaman said in a press release. “He's creative, resilient, a great storyteller and a proud Eurekan."

Tickets are free but space is limited. Community members can reserve their seats at www.bit.ly/3pzYHdG.

The release adds that walk-up attendees will be admitted as space allows. Doors and concessions open at 5 p.m. and the show will start promptly at 6 p.m.
