This week's Hum starts out with a bit about the improv trio Holshouser, Bennink and Moore , (aka Third Man Trio) coming to town next Tuesday, Oct. 20 , for a Redwood Jazz Alliance show in HSU's Fulkerson Recital Hall. The interview with the band's reeds player, Michael Moore , ( a Humboldt native ) mentions Dutch jazz icon Han Bennink , the wildest drummer I've ever heard.
Michael Eldridge of the RJA sent a link to today's edition of A Blog Supreme , the National Public Radio jazz blog , which includes the above vid showing Bennink demonstrating his mad skills on a Dutch late night show.
