The Humboldt County Coroner’s Office has identified the man killed in a motorcycle crash Tuesday afternoon on Alderpoint Road as 21-year-old Austin Brady Williams, of Eureka.

Williams was traveling westbound on Alderpoint Road, according to the California Highway Patrol, when for unknown reasons he lost control of his Yamaha in a right-hand curve. Williams slid into the eastbound lane, directly into the path of a 1994 Jeep Wrangler.

Williams was pronounced dead at the scene, and the accident remains under investigation. The death is at least the 11th on Humboldt County roads this year. Last year, Humboldt recorded 28 vehicle-related fatalities, three shy of the record set in 2009 and equaled in 2012.
