The city of Eureka is asking for the public’s help after dahlias and a few other plants were dug up and stolen from the Sequoia Park Flower Garden located next to the zoo.

According to a Sequoia Park Facebook post, some of the stolen dahlias were 50 to 80 years old.

“This garden is maintained by parks staff with help from dedicated volunteers who are heartbroken and disappointed,” the post states. “They have invested a lot of time, hard work and love into caring for this beautiful space so that our community and Eureka visitors can enjoy their beauty.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Eureka Community Services at 441-4241 or  the Parks Division at 441-4226.
