A Rio Dell man pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter Monday in connection with the death of a 16-year-old girl who died of a methamphetamine overdose while partying at a Eureka hotel in February of 2017, according to the
Lost Coast Outpost.
Tavin Dee Evans, 20, is expected to be sentenced to three years in county jail with the understanding the prosecution can argue for the maximum time of four years but that the defendant would be able to take back his plea if the longer term were imposed by Judge Dale Reinholtsen, the
Outpost report states.
Charges will be dropped against the case’s second defendant, Anthony Manuel Burgess, at Evans’ sentencing, according to the
Outpost. Burgess had recommended calling an ambulance for Alyssa Claybon before leaving the hotel room and is currently serving a prison sentence for an unrelated armed robbery.
