UPDATE: Public Health Releases New Hours of Possible COVID Exposure at McKinleyville Business

UPDATE:

Public Health has expanded the hours for possible exposure at the Chevron/Aztec Grill. Anyone who was inside the facility located at 1693 Central Ave. in McKinleyville between the hours of 4:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. any day between May 15 to May 20 should contact the Humboldt County Joint Information Center at 707-441-5000.

PREVIOUSLY:

Humboldt County issued a health alert this afternoon, advising anyone who has visited the interior of the Chevron Gas Station and Aztec Grill in McKinleyville from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. between May 15 and May 20 that they may have been exposed to COVID-19.

According to a press release, anyone who has visited the establishment, located at 1963 Central Ave., during the times and days in question should contact the Humboldt County Joint Information Center at 441-5000, whether or not they are experiencing symptoms. On the call, a public health nurse will evaluate possible exposure.

"There is no increased exposure risk for people who used gas pumps without entering the building," states the press release.

The Joint Information Center will be open until 8 p.m. today, and from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. tomorrow.

In the press release, Public Health Officer Teresa Frankovich warned that community transmission of the COVID-19 virus is occurring much more than it was even a couple weeks ago.

Individuals who visited the interior of the Chevron/Aztec Grill located at 1963 Central Ave. in McKinleyville between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. any day between May 15 to May 20 may have been exposed to COVID-19.

Anyone who was inside this location during these times should contact the Humboldt County Joint Information Center at 707-441-5000, whether or not you are experiencing symptoms. A Public Health nurse will evaluate your possible exposure and provide information. There is no increased exposure risk for people who used gas pumps without entering the building.

The Joint Information Center will be available until 8 p.m. tonight and tomorrow between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Humboldt County Health Officer Dr. Teresa Frankovich said this is a reminder that COVID-19 is circulating in our county. “Community transmission is occurring much more so than even a few weeks ago,” she said.

The facility has completed a deep cleaning and is working closely with Public Health.
