A fire flared up on a wall in a home on Whitmore Avenue in Redway about 11:47 p.m. on Saturday night.

Redway Fire responded to the scene but, according to the fire chief, quick thinking on the part of the occupant saved the day.

Redway Fire Chief Brian Anderson said the occupant “had the fire knocked down with a garden hose prior to our arrival. He did suffer a minor burn and will seek his own care.”
