At approximately 1:15 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a fire in the 4100 block of Excelsior in the Cutten area of Eureka near Sundial and Rachel.

At 1:30, the Incident Commander requested the category of the fire be moved up to a second alarm and mutual aid from other fire departments be requested.

By 1:45 firefighters had mostly gotten the situation under control.
