UPDATE:
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office reports a body was recovered from the waveslope in the area near Ma-le’l Dunes this afternoon.
“The Humboldt County Coroner’s Office is in the process of scheduling an autopsy and identifying the body,” a news release states. “More information will be released when available.”

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and a deputy coroner are investigating a report of a body located near Manila this afternoon.
A woman discovered what she said was a deceased person in the Ma-le'l Dunes area about 1:54 p.m., according to the scanner.
According to Samantha Karges, spokesperson for the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, “Sheriff’s deputies and a deputy coroner are on scene at the Ma-le'l Dunes for the report of a body located in the area.”
Karges said updates will be provided when more information is available.

On June 18, 2020, at about 1:54 p.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Emergency Communications Center received a call regarding a deceased person found by a beachgoer in the area of the Ma-le’l Dunes.
Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies and a deputy coroner responded to the scene and recovered the body from the waveslope utilizing a Sheriff’s side-by-side utility vehicle. The body was in an advanced state of decomposition.
The Humboldt County Coroner’s Office is in the process of scheduling an autopsy and identifying the body. More information will be released when available.
