Meriwether, who is just finishing his first year at the Arcata campus, is featured prominently in the story, which also ran on the website of USA Today, including his memory of skipping a middle school field trip because he refused to visit that park with its monument to a man who led the side fighting to preserve slavery during the Civil War.
