The League of California Cities recently released a statewide Public Service Announcement featuring mayors in California cities thanking the public for following safety precautions during COVID-19 and offering words of support and encouragement. Along with Mayor Darryl Steinberg of Sacramento and Mayor Libby Schaff of Oakland, Rio Dell's mayor Debra Garnes appears, shouting out the efforts of city employees from what appears to be her backyard:

"Thank you to all of our police officers," Garnes says in the PSA. "Our firefighters and our public works crews. And to all city employees on the front lines keeping our cities running and keeping you informed."

Rio Dell (population 3,390) has taken a proactive role towards addressing public safety during the crisis, launching the Rio Dell Volunteer Corps to support seniors self-quarantining at home and planning physically distant public events.

The League of California Cities is a lobbying association with the goal of influencing policy decisions that affect cities. The message of the PSA, which will run on Comcast channels in more than 290 cities across the state is,  “Dear California, We Will Emerge Even Stronger, Together.”
