At a press conference this afternoon, Gov. Gavin Newsom announced he will require all restaurants, wineries, movie theaters, zoos, museums and card rooms to close indoor operations throughout the state in the face of rapidly increasing COVID-19 infections. Bars, Newsom said, must cease all operations.
Newsom cited a seven-day average of 8,211 new confirmed cases in the state, as well as swelling hospitalization and intensive care unit numbers, as justification for the decision. He also announced further rollbacks in 30 counties on the state's watch list that will limit operations of gyms, churches, personal care salons, malls and some offices, though Humboldt County is not currently on that list.
