Two vehicles – a blue Titan and an SUV – collided on northbound Hwy 101 near Big Lagoon in the Kane Road area about 12:09 p.m., according to the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page.
According to first reports, two adults and four children are injured. Two ambulances have been requested. [Note: at 12:32 p.m. a third ambulance was requested.]
An air ambulance has been requested also and was diverted from the motorcycle accident near Redcrest to respond to this.
The dispatcher reports there is one major injury and four moderate injuries.

UPDATE 12:43 p.m.: One patient is just now being extricated from the vehicle. Both lanes of 101 are closed until around 1 p.m., according to the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page.
UPDATE 12:53 p.m.: A second copter is headed to the scene but weather conditions at the normal landing zone at the schoolhouse are not good enough so emergency personnel are searching for another site.
UPDATE 1:11 p.m.: “We’ve determined we’ll only be flying one patient,” reports one of the aircraft crew. “You can release Copter 102.” The four moderately injured patients will be taken by ground ambulance while the patient with major injuries will be flown by Reach helicopter to a hospital.
UPDATE 2 p.m: Road reopened.
