Fieldbrook Woman Safe, Suspected Kidnapper in Custody

A Humboldt County man suspected of kidnapping a Fieldbrook woman has been taken into custody in Oregon and she is safe, according to the sheriff’s office.

A news release states George Rose, 43, was located near Talent, Oregon, where he “reportedly approached a resident’s home, requesting assistance in contacting law enforcement to turn himself in” and “the victim, Joy Hong, who was found alive and unharmed.”

The suspect of a kidnapping in the Fieldbrook area has been arrested in Oregon and the remaining victim confirmed safe.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was notified this afternoon (August 5, 2020) by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office that kidnapping suspect George Rose was located near Talent, OR.

Rose reportedly approached a resident’s home, requesting assistance in contacting law enforcement to turn himself in. Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies responded, locating Rose and the victim, Joy Hong, who was found alive and unharmed. Rose was subsequently taken into custody.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office for their coordination and swift response to apprehend Rose and bring Hong to safety. More information will be released as available.
