Fire crews continue to battle the combined Red and Salmon Fires burning on the Klamath, Six Rivers and Shasta-Trinity National Forests within Humboldt, Siskiyou and Trinity counties. According to today's USDA press release, the Red Fire now covers 36,861 acres and is at 19 percent containment. The Salmon Fire "remains in its original footprint" at 807 acres and 79 percent containment.

The accompanying Smoke Outlook report from the U.S. Forest Service Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program states, "Combined smoke from the Red Salmon Complex and several fires burning to the south lingers over the fire area and off to the east; while to the west, light smoke sits above valley floors."
