Red Salmon Complex:  130,154 acres and 31 percent containment

Air quality conditions continue to be an issue in communities around the Red Salmon Complex, with smoke from the August Complex and defensive firing mixing with the Red Salmon Complex's to blanket the area.

Motorists are urged to use caution.

The Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office has also issued an evacuation warning for a 4-mile area around  Cecilville, where the fire is backing down toward Cecilville Road. Visit https://www.co.siskiyou.ca.us/sheriff for further information on the warning.

Evacuation warnings remain in place for Forks of Salmon (Siskiyou County Sherriff’s office 530-842-8300) and Denny (https://www.trinitycounty.org/OES).

Crews are continuing defensive firing, working to strengthen fire lines and maintaining structure protection. When conditions allow air support is also being used.

Major actions listed in the update include:
  • Crews continued defensive firing along Hotelling Ridge, staying just ahead of the main body of the fire, which has filled in around Knownothing Creek and is approaching the South Fork of the Salmon River as planned. Additional crews have been brought in to continue structure protection in the Godfrey/Black Bear/Blue Ridge area and around Cecilville.
  • An additional dozer was brought in to strengthen and aid ongoing fire line construction between Miller Ranch and the fire. Crews are preparing for planned defensive firing along Bake Oven Ridge in the next few days. Fire is continuing to hold well along the trail near Horse Linto Creek.
  • Crews have constructed fire control line near Colgrove Branch of Mill Creek. Today plan includes strategic firing operations.
