Red Salmon Complex: 'Critical Fire Conditions' Ahead

Clear skies on Monday helped aircraft aid crews working to suppress the fire along the eastern flank of the Red Salmon Complex, which is currently holding at 141,820 acres and 60 percent containment.

A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for Wednesday and Thursday as weather this week turns warmer, drier and windier. Temperatures will increase from the 70s to the 80s and humidity will drop as low as 12 percent while wind gusts could reach up to 30 mph later in the week.  These forecasts 'could produce critical fire conditions,' according to this morning's update.

Today, crews will continue to work on containment lines along the Red Salmon Complex's western flank, and on the eastern side, their focus will be on holding the fire south of the Salmon River. Meanwhile, crews are starting to remove equipment in the Forks of Salmon and other areas where there are containment lines.

Evacuation warnings remain in effect for the communities in and around Forks of Salmon and Cecilville as well as Denny, including the Miller Ranch area.
