The National Weather Service Eureka has issued a warning to beachgoers as a swell will bring sneaker waves on the coast Sunday night into Monday.

According to NWS, periods of smaller waves will be accompanied by sudden larger waves that have the potential to sweep beachgoers into the water.

NWS advises residents to not be caught off guard by otherwise good weather and to avoid steep beaches, rocks, and jetties.

"Remember to never turn your back on the ocean," the warning reads.
