Arcata Man Arrested in Eureka Stabbing

The Eureka Police Department has arrested an Arcata man on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with a September stabbing near West Third and Commercial streets. The victim, a 50-year-old man, suffered multiple wounds and is still recovering.

According to a news release, detectives arrested Tory Tasi Parker Mamea, 27, at his residence today “based on surveillance in the area and (an) extensive follow-up investigation,” which also indicated the victim was stabbed just before 3 a.m. as he was sleeping on the street. He is now in stable condition.

On September 24, 2020, at about 2:50 a.m., officers with the Eureka Police Department (EPD) responded to W 3rd and Commercial Streets for the report of a stabbing that had just occurred. The 50-year-old male victim was transported to the hospital by ambulance with multiple stab wounds.

The suspect was described as fleeing in an older model white Ford Ranger. Based on surveillance in the area and extensive follow-up investigation, Detectives were able to identify the suspect as Tory Tasi Parker Mamea (27 of Arcata). On November 4, 2020, Detectives with the Eureka Police Department served an arrest warrant for Mamea at his residence in Arcata. Mamea was taken into custody and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for attempted murder.

Based on the investigation, the male victim had been sleeping on the street when the incident occurred. The victim received multiple serious stab wounds but is in stable condition and recovering.
