Arcata police are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred at about 1:20 this morning.
Arcata Police Chief Brian Ahearn said the incident began outside the Arcata Theater Lounge on G Street when a man confronted another man he'd had a "beef" with and stabbed him. The fight moved into the 600 block of 10th Street and, at some point, a third man became involved.
The fight ended with the man who appeared to have instigated it dropping a knife and collapsing on G Street, Ahearn said, adding the man later died of his wounds.
The two other men were transported to local hospitals with stab or cutting wounds, Ahearn said, adding that two knives were recovered from the crime scene, which spanned multiple blocks. He stressed that APD believes there is no ongoing threat to the community from the incident.
Ahearn asked that anyone with information about the case call 822-2424.
