Citing an increase in confirmed COVID-19 cases locally, the Humboldt County Superior Court has reinstated rules requiring face masks be worn in all county courtrooms and the Jury Assembly Room used for jury selection.

The new rule went into effect yesterday.

The court also reminds anyone due to appear in court who is symptomatic — with a fever, cough, cold or other symptoms — to contact their attorneys and make arrangements for their hearings to be rescheduled, or to appear remotely via phone or video conferencing.

COURT REVISES MASKING POLICY FOR THE PUBLIC
On May 25, 2022, due to an increase in the number of positive COVID-19 cases in Humboldt County, the Court reinstated the requirement for face masks to be worn in all Courtrooms and the Jury Assembly Room, which is used for jury selection.

At this time, masks are not required when entering the Clerk’s Office, located at 421 “I” Street, Eureka, or in the hallways on the Second Floor of the Courthouse.

Also, as a reminder to the public, individuals who have scheduled court appearances and who are experiencing symptoms of illness, such as fever, cough, cold symptoms, etc., should contact their attorneys and make arrangements to have their hearings rescheduled, OR appear via remote telephonic or video appearance if directed to do so by counsel.

If you represent yourself, remote appearance and calendar information can be accessed via the following link: https://www.humboldt.courts.ca.gov/general-information/judicial-assignmentscalendars.
