UPDATE: Caltrans announced this afternoon that it had re-opened U.S. Highway 101 to controlled traffic between Garberville and Mendocino County after heavy snow had again closed the thoroughfare.

PREVIOUSLY:
U.S. Highway  101 is once again closed from Garberville into Mendocino County due to another round of heavy snow, according to Caltrans.

No estimation for reopening was immediately available.

Portions of  state routes 299 and 96 are also shut down as well as several county roads are also closed, some due to downed trees and powerlines and others because of snow. Read the county list here.
