Welcome to the Day

     For our Bublin Bear

To all of you who nest at night,
Who wake up late or at first light,
Who crawl or swim or take to flight,
Welcome to the day!

To you who twitter in the trees,
Who hang aloft in wafting breeze,
Who live and eat among the leaves,
Welcome to the day.

Come hold these blooms beneath your nose,
Come twine the grass between your toes,
Come roll around and muddy clothes,
Welcome to the day.

The day's alight with sunny rays,
The water's spark'ling in the bay,
The birds sing all there is to say,
Welcome to the day!
