Heads up, Humboldt:
While the county's masking mandate has been lifted, Public Health is still strongly recommending masking indoors in public, social distancing and "avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces." COVID-19 is still with us, so be sure to check the protocols at event venues.

September/October Art Show - Jeff Provolt

When: Mondays. Continues through Oct. 28

During September and October, paintings by Jeff Provolt will be on display at the Arcata Marsh Interpretive Center. Shows featuring local art and photography are sponsored by Friends of the Arcata Marsh (FOAM). The Interpretive Center, located at 569 South G Street in Arcata, is open to the public Monday from 1 to 5 p.m. and Tuesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call (707) 826-2359. Statement from the artist: “I am a lifelong resident of Humboldt County. I worked in the woods and the mills for various lumber companies, operating all sorts of equipment. Extra money came in from commercial and fine art. I’m also a lifelong musician, playing steel guitar and other stringed instruments daily since the age of 8. When the mills started closing, I turned to printing T-shirts for the tourist industry and local events such as the Kinetic Sculpture Race and Clam Beach Run. But the deadline nature of a print shop didn’t leave me much time for art. After 30 years, I recently retired and returned to painting. I like to capture images of the North Coast, both natural and man-made.”
