As part of the Let's Talk About the Middle East film and discussion series, HSU History professor Dr. Leena Dallasheh hosts a screening of A Separation (2011). A middle-class family in Tehran is embroiled in strife over the decision to leave the country for a better life for their 11-year-old daughter or staying to care for her ailing grandfather. Through the legal struggle that ensues, the film explores the complexities of class, politics, religion, and family structure in contemporary Iran. The screening is free and open to the public.
