The Blue Ox Veterans have been working from the only known photograph of the original hearse that carried President Lincoln for the final leg of his national funeral procession. They’ve re-created original molds for all the decorative details, cast in aluminum, then gold and silver leafed by Charles Ellsworth and Lynnie Horrigan of All Points Signs. The Hearse will be the centerpiece during the 150th anniversary commemorative ceremonies to be held in Springfield, Illinois May 1-3, 2015. The event is expected to bring 250,000 people to Springfield, including thousands of historic re-enactors, wanting to honor one of America’s greatest presidents.
