The Humboldt County Historical Society is proud to offer its continuing Saturday lecture series on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 2:30 pm. The lecture, “All Good Buckaroos Come to Die in Humboldt” will be presented by Karen Hendricks via Zoom hosted by the Humboldt County Library. The lecture can be viewed from the safety and comfort of home on a personal computer, laptop, tablet or smart phone. The deadline to sign up for access to the lecture is at 5:00 pm on Friday, February 5, 2021. This talk is about a 125-year-old murder of a Humboldt Vaquero in Mendocino County that caught the attention of people as far away as Kansas and still reverberates to this day. And how this presenter may have a personal connection to it. Hendricks is currently a Board Member of Humboldt County Historical Society and has written several articles for the quarter historical journal the Humboldt Historian, including a story about Daniel Woodman, that ties to the murder and the lecture. This will be Hendrick’s second presentation for the Library Program. Her first was about Auto Parks. Locally, Hendricks is known as the “Cemetery Lady” for the several books she has compiled on many Humboldt County cemeteries. She contributes her research to the website called “Find-a-grave.” Hendricks was born and raised in Humboldt County and loves our unique history. Join Karen Hendricks as she follows the 125-year-old murder mystery and reveals her connection to the case. Those interested in the lecture can find more information at the library website www.humlib.org by clicking on the calendar of events and finding the event listed on Saturday, February 6, 2021.
