"Astounding Astragalus (milkvetch), in Humboldt and Beyond"

The California Native Plant Society (CNPS) invites the public to "Astounding Astragalus, in Humboldt County and Beyond," Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at 7:30 p.m. at Six Rivers Masonic Lodge, 251 Bayside Road, near 7th and Union in Arcata. Astragalus (the milkvetches) is a large and diverse genus in the western US, with many rare and endemic species. Professor Kerry Byrne (Environmental Science and Management, HSU) will provide an overview and highlight some of the interesting species found in Humboldt County, and will describe her conservation research involving a federally endangered species in southern Oregon. This evening CNPS will be selling used botanical books to benefit the chapter. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. for snacks, sales, and socializing.
