At a Ross for Words

comment

Editor:

I must apologize to Ross Rowley and all the other television commercial producers in Humboldt County. Having produced my own share of "quick and stupid" local commercials, I have no right to disparage the work of others in our industry ("Bye, Folks!" May 29).

During the interview, I did give kudos to the many talented local commercial producers doing fabulous work, but unfortunately those comments didn't make it into the article.

Mr. Rowley is also correct in pointing out that television stations must be doing something right if they are making money and their customers are happy. It is a prudent business strategy to package air time with commercial production.

In closing, I must thank Mr. Rowley, not only for his insightful comments and tireless contributions to our media community, but also for his assistance many years ago to a young College of the Redwoods digital media student, (whom he'd never met) supplying a reel of CR-related video clips for use in a class project.

Thank you Ross.
