Meet leader Larry Karsteadt at the end of South I Street (Klopp Lake) in Arcata. Start around Klopp Lake to scope any birds there and around the bay, discuss the history of the marsh and area, stop by water treatment facilities, and follow Butcher Slough to each of the three enhancement marshes before returning to the parking lot. If there are any specialties nearby, we sometimes alter the route. These are casual, general interest walks that highlight birds, other wildlife, plants, shared stories and discoveries by all participants.
