Heads up, Humboldt:
While the county's masking mandate has been lifted, Public Health is still strongly recommending masking indoors in public, social distancing and "avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces." COVID-19 is still with us, so be sure to check the protocols at event venues.

Banned Books Week Read Out

When: Tue., Sept. 24, 5 p.m. 2019

Marcy Burstiner, Professor in the HSU Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, will facilitate the event. Participants will read passages from books that have been challenged, censored, or banned outright in schools, libraries, and bookstores. Banned Books Week, an annual event since 1982, celebrates freedom of expression and brings attention to the dangers of censorship. All are welcome to participate in the read out event, which will take place from 5-7pm in front of the HSU Library on Tuesday, September 24. Participants can choose from a selection of banned books owned by the HSU Library or bring their own. To sign up for a time spot, visit the HSU Library website at https://libguides.humboldt.edu/bannedbooks. For additional information, contact the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences Librarian Garrett Purchio at (707) 826-5589 or email gap13@humboldt.edu.
