“Better Get It In Your Soul” is an evening long celebration of the legendary jazz musician Charles Mingus, showcasing his contribution to the art form during the centennial of his birth. Join the Cal Poly Humboldt School of Dance, Music, and Theatre, band leader Dan Aldag, and the Cal Poly Humboldt Jazz Orchestra for this historic concert. Mingus was one of jazz's greatest bassists, composers, and bandleaders. Almost the entire history of jazz, from New Orleans to the '60s avant-garde was part of Mingus's musical language, along with work songs, blues, gospel, European classical, and world music.
