Bigfoot Birding Day Bird Walk

When: Sat., May 9, 7:30 a.m. 2015

International Migratory Bird Day (IMBD) will be celebrated on May 8 and 9 in Orleans as “Bigfoot Birding Day.” The event, a memorial to the late Forest Service wildlife biologist Tony Hacking, will kick off on Friday evening with a community potluck dinner starting at 5:30 p.m., followed by a slide show at 7:30 p.m. Tom Leskiw and Jude Power will present this year’s IMBD Powerpoint show about the importance of habitat, “Restore Habitat, Restore Birds.” On Saturday, Tom, Jude, and Gene Lodes will lead a bird walk, starting at 7:30 a.m. Both events begin at the Panamnik Building, 38150 Highway 96, Orleans. Entries to the Twelfth Annual Godwit Days Student Bird Art Contest from children attending Orleans Elementary, Junction Elementary, and Forks of Salmon Schools will be posted for viewing.
