The show features almost 80 national artists bringing intricate techniques and unexpected materials to all kinds of wearable art, including pins, brooches, scarves and jewelry. Two participating artists are Eureka residents: Artist Norman Sherfield's contribution to this exhibition continues his traditional style of incorporating found objects into intricately knotted material. For "Pins + Needles," Sherfield contributes a selection of brooches created from recycled watch parts and knotted textile strands in vibrant colors, imbuing the parts with new life. Erin Austin is a metal artist living and working on California's North Coast. Her work has been shown locally, nationally, and internationally. In addition to creating, Erin is also interested in education and works and teaches in the Jewelry and Small Metals studio at Humboldt State University. https://societyofcrafts.org/pins-and-needles/
