The Yurok Tribe Environmental Program (YTEP) will be seeking grant funding for cleanup activities addressing contamination at the site of the historic Orcutt Mill which is currently known as the Devil’s Gulch Burner, located in the Pecwan District of the Yurok Tribe Reservation. The Site is predominantly covered with trees and vegetation and contains the remains of the former Devil’s Gulch Mill which contains the conical burner and a small structure. The conical burner was structurally damaged during the Ke’pel fire in 2016 and is in physical danger of collapsing. The burner contains waste ash at environmentally toxic levels from historical mill activities. YTEP is seeking community involvement to help identify the community vision, needs, concerns and expectations of the project. On Facebook live. https://fb.me/e/caRhZTnGs.
