One of many signs critical of the Eureka Police Department at Friday's protests, days after a series of officers' violent and misogynistic text messages were leaked to the Sacramento Bee.

Yahmo Ahqha addressed the crowd asking them to come to the courthouse next Friday to continue to demand that officers involved in offensive group texts be fired from Eureka Police Department.

Kaelyn Jones-Rios, of Eureka, had read about the offensive texts and said when she saw on social media the protest was happening she ruched to the courthouse with her dog Comet.

Arcata resident Helen Anker, left, and Taryn Whitaker, of Eureka, said they were really upset about the texts they read and didn’t feel that officers getting paid time off is being held accountable.

About 50 demonstrators gathered at the Humboldt County Courthouse on Friday to demand that Eureka Police Department fire officers who were exposed in a Sacramento Bee article about offensive group texts between the officers.
