Packed full of musical imagery, Ethel Smyth’s “The Wrecking Overture” is a perfect opening for this concert. Czech composer Bohuslav Martinů’s richly imaginative “Rhapsody-Concerto for viola and orchestra features the virtuoso soloist Ivo Bukolic. The evening concludes with “Pines of Rome” by Ottorino Respighi the orchestral painter who commanded a palette of spectacular range. The Roman landscape is evoked by his transformative visions and memories.
