Everyone is invited to celebrate the deep humanity and decades of public service of Steve Watson, former chief of the Eureka Police Department in a brief online award ceremony, Sunday, January 16 at 4 pm. The Humboldt Interfaith Fellowship will confer upon Chief Watson our first Community Service Award. As the City of Eureka announcement said in part, “Chief Watson has emphasized relationship-based policing, community engagement, and building deeper partnerships, understanding, and trust” and “has been a progressive, innovative, and creative problem-solver.” We couldn’t agree more.
