Fishing Vessel Drill Conductor Workshop

When: June 12-13, 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Tue., June 26, 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. and Wed., June 27, 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. 2018

(AMSEA) will offer a Fishing Vessel Drill Conductor workshop in Eureka, California on Tuesday, June 12 and Wednesday, June 13, 2018 from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM at the Woodley Island Marina, 601 Startare Drive. This two-day workshop is free for commercial fisherman, thanks to support from the U.S. Coast Guard and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). The cost is $195 for all others. Those interested in attending the workshop may register online at www.amsea.org or call (907) 747-3287. Instructor, Beverly Noll, will cover cold-water survival skills; EPIRBs, signal flares, and mayday calls; man-overboard recovery and firefighting; flooding control and dewatering pumps; immersion suits and PFDs; emergency drills, helicopter rescue, life rafts, and abandon ship procedures. In addition, there will be an in-the-water practice session where workshop participants will practice skills with PFDs, immersion suits, and a life raft. This workshop meets the U.S. Coast Guard training requirements for drill conductors on commercial fishing vessels.
