Virginia Waters will present a talk titled "Fungal Ecology" at the Humboldt Bay Mycological Society's monthly meeting. The talk will emphasize the roles of fungi in forest ecosystems, the variety of their relationships to other organisms, and how essential these fascinating organisms are to the functioning of terrestrial ecosystems. Also included will be basic information about basidiomycetes (mushrooms, boletes, etc.) and ascomycetes (cup fungi, morels, etc.) -- including their structure, life cycles, nutrition, and evolutionary relationship to other organisms.
