Guest Artist Robert Lopez

When: Through May 31

A new guest artist is gracing the walls at Old Town Art Gallery. Robert Lopez, former Eureka High School art teacher, will be showing his work in April and May. He describes his artistic journey in this way: “Art has been a serious part of my self- expression since I began college where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree and Teaching Credential. I taught Art for 35 years at Eureka High School. After retiring from teaching in June 2001, my passion and dream to devote full time to Painting and Drawing has now become a reality. I have used my years of travel, observations and inspiration of the Northern California Coast, the Oregon Coast, New Mexico, Ireland, Montana, and the Hawaiian Islands to serve as my subjects in a variety of two-dimensional media including acrylic, watercolor, tempera, pastels, colored pencil and ink. I let my subject suggest to me the best media that best expresses the vision I wish to convey. My work brings to me a visual, emotional and spiritual experience as each piece of work evolves to the final statement. As I work, I am totally immersed in the changing views and moods that nature offers. My exhibit record includes many group and one man shows in Humboldt County, Portland, Roseburg and Brookings, Oregon. My work is also part of many private collections in California, Oregon, Montana, New York, and Hawaii.”
