Heads up, Humboldt:
While the county's masking mandate has been lifted, Public Health is still strongly recommending masking indoors in public, social distancing and "avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces." COVID-19 is still with us, so be sure to check the protocols at event venues.

HICAP Volunteer Informational Meeting

When: Wed., Feb. 18 2015

HICAP provides free training to become a registered HICAP Counselor with the California Department of Aging. We are interested in recruiting volunteers who can contribute 30 hours for HICAP training, with another 10 hours for internship to become State certified. A one year commitment is required for ongoing training. HICAP is the Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program, a program of the Area One Agency on Aging. HICAP volunteers help senior and disabled Medicare beneficiaries understand their Medicare and health insurance benefits and choices. HICAP volunteers advocate for Medicare beneficiaries regarding problems with Medicare or a Medicare provider. HICAP volunteers also inform low income Medicare beneficiaries about programs to help pay for Medicare costs. For more information, please contact Suzi Hendry, HICAP Volunteer Coordinator at 707-444-3000 x221 or shendry@a1aa.org.
