Heads up, Humboldt:
While the county's masking mandate has been lifted, Public Health is still strongly recommending masking indoors in public, social distancing and "avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces." COVID-19 is still with us, so be sure to check the protocols at event venues.

High Brow Comedy Showcase

When: Fri., Sept. 4, 9 p.m. 2015

Savage Henry Magazine Comedy Festival opens Mateel’s 4th Annual Comedy Cabaret monthly series on Sept 4th at the Mateel hall in Redway. Mateel’s pro comedy series that runs once a month from September through April will present no less than 10 comedians for this special event called High Brow. “That’s when like-minded, wandering souls, hungry for entertainment will gather at the Mateel to experience a social experiment where comedians inhale deeply and exhale the truth.” The result is comedy unhinged! High Brow features comedians from the Fourth Annual Savage Henry Magazine Comedy Festival. The West Coast’s humor magazine based right here in Humboldt County, is bringing more than 100 comedians to the area for the Labor Day weekend and this event to be celebrated throughout Eureka, Arcata and southern Humboldt. The festival, brought to you by Vermicrop Organics and The Heart of Humboldt, will not only feature stand-up shows but also live recordings of podcasts and some of the best variety shows from San Francisco, Los Angeles and Denver. Hosting the show will be Lydia Popovich, Jeremy Wheat and Land Smith-Abinante. The featured comedians from the Fourth Annual Savage Henry Magazine Comedy Festival will be Richard Toomer, Nathan Lund, Keith D, Michael D’Bey, Aviva Siegel, John Gallagher and Tony Persico. Come down to the Mateel for the first whopper of a Comedy Cabaret to open the season. Doors open at 8:30
