Humboldt County Beekeepers Association presents "Garden Bees, An Evening with Pete Haggard" on Thursday, September 7 Meeting starting @ 6:00 PM, guest speaker at 6:30. Pete is co-author with Judy Haggard of the field guide “Insects of the Pacific Northwest” He retired from the Humboldt County Agricultural Commissioner’s Office in 2006, after 34 yrs of service. He has a special interest in local native bees and native.. flora Pete also teaches the UC Master Gardener Program and UC Master Food Preserver Program here in Humboldt County. He serves as Garden Chair for the California Native Plant Society- North Coast Chapter and is an instructor of the gardening classes for Humboldt State University College of Extended Education and Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. Join us in welcoming Pete and take advantage of his notable experience and knowledge of plants for pollinators and the fascinating lives of the local native bees. This meeting of local beekeepers is open to everyone in the community who wants to know more about our native bees and their environments. The meeting will start at 6:00 pm and will be held at the Humboldt County Agriculture Center Auditorium at 5630 South Broadway in Eureka CA (take Humboldt Hill Rd exit off HWY 101). There is a $2.00 donation at the door, refreshments & a raffle. Everyone is welcome.
